How to Get Level 100 Mew in Pokemon Yellow

I decided to try out the mew glitch cus I never new it was so easy to get a mew but i got a level 7 mew not level 1 and when i tried to battle with it it didn't get instantly to 100 like the cheat section says it's leveling normally no matter what i do (switch or beat something with mew itself)

if i redo it (made sure to save right before hand) will it do it like the cheat says or what? I was hoping to power through everything with mainly pikachu and having super mew there as backup

OK, the level 100 glitch is specific to only certain growth patterns in experience gain for specific Pokemon - and only when the Pokemon is Level 1. Simply put the game makes a mistake with that specific growth rate and instantly moves the Pokemon from Level 1 to Level 100. Pokemon Level 2 and above won't be affected by the glitch.

To reduce the Mew to Level 1, you MUST use a stat reduction move on the final Pokemon in the fight before the Mew encounter. Use Growl 6 times and the Mew will be level 1.

but i did use growl six times! I even double checked the pp to be sure it was six... are there any other rules to follow in the fight? i dropped pikachu's growl for double team so i swapped to bulbasaur to growl then back to pikachu to win the battle

nvm nvm i got it though i ran out of stupid balls and gotta try a third time anyway >.>

You have to have it get less than the number under level up in stats. Which iirc is 64 or so for a lvl 1 Mew, so to get it to 100 you need to have it get under 64 exp.

I did the glitch and got a level 7 mew. Was very happy it was not going to go to level 100. That would have been annoying to me.

Erm, the lvl 1 Mew I caught had 63 EXP to get to lvl 2, but it didn't jump to lvl 100 after I caught it or after another battle, it just went to level 2. Any help would be nice.

I only play in Ubers and Anything Goes
Don't complain if you lose when using OU or lower tier pokemon. You handicapped yourself. Your fault.

yeah i had a similar problem the exp mew gets has to be UNDER the required amount to level it, if it's enough to level up it'll just level up like normal, use the grass to the west that you go through before arriving in cerulean but after mt. moon with the switch out to a different pokemon it'll definitely be low enough to trip the glitch for mew
